Enugu, Nigeria – Poverty is very widespread in Enugu. The Catholic Church and the new governor of Enugu State are working hand in hand to provide the next generation with a good and needs-based education, a vocational qualification and a job.
Monsignor Obiora Ike reported to State Secretary Prof. Onyia that each and every one of the 1,000 or so apprentices trained in his projects had found a job.
Nevertheless, at least a whole generation will pass before the training projects take full effect. Crime is very high. Even our orphanage has been the victim of nocturnal burglars.
The chicken farm has been vandalized and the animals stolen.
The sisters are desperate. The eggs and meat were an important source of food for the children. The chicken farm is necessary in order to provide the adolescents with balanced meals.
The sisters now wanted to build a security fence around the orphanage and the chicken farm so that they could buy and raise chickens – without fear of theft.
This protective fence around the orphanage is also important to protect the children from theft and kidnapping.
However, due to high inflation (up to over 30% in 2024), the money was only enough for the foundations.
Sr. Martin Agnes is desperately asking for our help. Around 9,600 euros are still needed to complete the protective fence. Together we hope to raise the money so that the orphans‘ meals are also secured with protein and meat.
Please help us.
